Notes

Zoologist Edward Richard Alston's own copy of his paper on the mammalia of western Scotland, interleaved with blanks and annotated with Alston's own updates and additions. These may have been with a view to refining for book publication, but his own mortality (one of his citations is dated 1881; Alson died in March that year) seems to have precluded that. A later hand has added further pencil notes, often correcting Alston's Gaelic.
