A scarce pamphlet produced following the first AGM of this Edinburgh society which shared aims and name with the Dublin-based 'Society for Promoting the Education of the Poor in Ireland' if not direct affiliation, although the committee report that contact and an exchange of printed material with the Irish society has been made and that they regard their programme as 'particularly promising'. They also note contact with the Hibernian Society, based in London, to whom they remitted fifty pounds.
