SECOND EDITION, folio, pp. ii, 157, [1] + colour frontispiece and 111 colour plates, many incorporating gilt. Contemporary half sheep, marbled boards, spine divided by raised bands with gilt rolls, red and green morocco labels lettered in gilt, other compartments elaborately tooled in gilt, marbled endpapers, all edges gilt. Binding rubbed and a little worn to extremities, joints starting. Bookbinder’s ticket from Fox, George Street, London to front flyleaf.

Notes

The second edition of Owen Jones' famous Grammar of Ornament, which has twelve additional plates compared with the first edition published in 1856. While the contemporary binding of this copy is beginning to wear, the pages and plates are beautifully preserved.
