Later half brown roan, marbled boards, spines divided by raised bands, compartments bordered with gilt rules, 2nd and 3rd compartments lettered direct in gilt, top edges gilt. Just a touch of spotting. Bindings a little rubbed and marked. Bookseller’s labels of Charles Hutt, London, to pastedowns.

A reprint of Fielding's 1749 novel in Thomas Roscoe's 'Novellist's Library' series, with a capsule biography of Fielding to the first volume and series half-titles. The illustrations by George Cruikshank, much-reprinted over the following century, were made for this edition and make their first appearance here.
