Notes

The merchant John Wilson seeks exoneration in a dispute with Messrs Fairholm and Arbuthnot, Edinburgh merchants, and Thomas Crauford, late factor of the Duke of Hamilton's salt works at Bo'ness, over the non-delivery of nearly 2000 bushels of salt. Wilson received 1020 bushels of a consignment of 3000 agreed with Fairholm and Arbuthnot, but needed time to collect the remainder until he secured a ship for transport. After asking for the remainder of his purchased salt Crauford claimed to not have it and to have never had a contract with Wilson.
