Notes

A petition for redress on behalf of a travelling salesman, Robert Torn, against James and Alexander Ouchterlonies and Thomas Rannie. Torn had been staying at the house of Rannie near Arbroath when the Ouchterlonies obtained a decree against him for failure to pay debts, in settlement of which his goods and wallet were taken from Rannie's house and sold off. Torn denies their charges and seeks reparation for false arrest, seizure of his goods and subsequent ruination.
