A scarce knitting manual by Edinburgh-born writer Anne Jane Cupples (1839-1896). Institutional catalogues speculate dates as early as 1867, but this copy appears to be a later issue, containing an advertisement for 'A knitting book of counterpanes, toilet covers, pincushions, and other articles of fancy work', published by Cupples in 1871.
