Description

Folio, pp. [ii] + 30 hand-coloured plated with accompanying letterpress. Original brown cloth, boards bordered and blocked in blind, front board lettered direct in gilt. A little spotting, ownership inscription clipped from top corner of title-page. Boards lightly marked and a little rubbed to edges. Modern bookplate to pastedown, gift inscription to title-page.

Notes

An attractive collection of hand-coloured engravings of natural phenomena, including depictions of avalanches, volcanoes, glaciers and the aurora borealis. They were also available separately at 3/4d plain or 2d coloured, and the collection was reissued in 1849.
