Notes

A complaint raised by a brewer and distiller in Glasgow against his son from his first marriage, who raised a claim for a bond of security that had been part of his mother's marriage contract. Sheills alleges that it is the boy's maternal grandfather who initiated the action, and that although an illegitimate claim, its public nature has harmed his credit, led his creditors to impound his tools of trade, and would ruin his business, in respect of which he seeks damages and expenses.
