PRESENTATION COPY, 8vo, pp. xv, [i], 447, [1]. Contemporary biscuit calf, boards bordered with double gilt rules enclosing a blind roll, front board blocked centrally in gilt, spine divided by raised bands gilt, green morocco label, edges gilt Spine darkened, a little rubbed to edges. Inscribed to flyleaf: ‘The honourable Sir John Muir Bart. Lord Provost of Glasgow, with J. Nicol’s respect & esteem, 22. October 1892’.

Notes

An attractive presentation copy, with the arms of the City of Glasgow blocked in gilt to the front board, of a book presented to Sir John Muir, Baronet (1828-1903), presumably on the occasion of his ennoblement, which was announced in the London Gazette three days after the date of the inscription.
