8vo, pp. xix, [i], 446, [6, ads]. Original green cloth, spine and boards blocked in black, front board and spine stamped in gilt. Some pencil notes to margins, marginal edge tears to two leaves. Binding shaken and rubbed to extremities. Ink ownership inscription to front flyleaf, later ink gift inscription dated 1939.

Notes

A scarce nineteenth century reprint of these two Brontë novels, with OCLC recording just one copy in a German library. A previous owner has made some pencil notes in the margins, as well as gently crossing out 'Emily' on the title-page and attributing 'Wuthering Heights' (wrongly) to 'Bramwell'.
