Notes

The first edition of 'On the Sublime', the ancient treatise on aesthetics known under the name Dionysius Longinus, as edited by Zachary Pearce (1690-1774), Bishop of Rochester. Dedicated to Pearce's patron, Thomas Parker, Lord Macclesfield, it is elegantly printed and became a standard text, several times reprinted in smaller format including by the Foulis Press.
