Notes

The slightly less scarce variant with shorter imprint - even so only located in a handful of British institutions by ESTC, plus another 8 in North America - of this translation of the epitome of the history of Gnaeus Trogus Pompeius by Marcus Junianus Justinus, first published in 1702. The translator was Thomas Brown (d.1704), a gifted linguist and prolific hack 'equally distinguished by ability and dissipation' (ODNB), perhaps now best remembered as the extemporiser of the epigram 'I do not love thee Dr Fell'.
