FIRST EDITION, NO. 109 OF 300 COPIES SIGNED BY THE AUTHOR, oblong small folio, pp. [vi], 2, [ii], 3-49, [3]. Original cream boards printed in black and red backed in black cloth, spine lettered in gilt, black cloth slipcase. A touch of rubbing to slipcase, else fine. Signed by the author to a special fly-title inserted after the first leaf of text, numbered in ink to the limitation-page to rear.

Notes

A collection of poetry and artwork by Nobel Laureate Grass, the poems presented in facing-page translations by Michael Hamburger. This is one of the 300 standard copies, 50 deluxe copies were also issued in quarter red cloth. We have not been able to trace another copy with the slipcase, which was clearly made for the book.
