FIRST EDITION, INSCRIBED BY THE AUTHOR, 8vo, pp, 113, [3]. Later half black cloth, green marbled boards, black leather label to spine lettered vertically in gilt. A few gutters reinforced with tape. A little rubbed, some wear to edges. Inscribed to M[-] v. Barkelowe to half-title, ink stamps of Musee Postal and Postmuseum to first two leaves, typed address label pasted to title-page, ‘Early Technology’ bookplate of Michael Bennett-Levy to pastedown.

Notes

An overview of the early days of telephony, published just five years after Alexander Graham Bell made his famous call to his assistant in the next room, and covering the competing and often concurrent work of others in the field, including Elisha Gray, Philipp Reiss and Thomas Edison.
Worldcat records 13 copies, with none in Britain, and a Portuguese translation published in Brazil the following year.
