8vo, pp. 383, [1] + folding map frontispiece. Engraved title-page and 3 plates included within pagination. Original blue cloth, front board blocked with an elaborate frame in gilt, rear board likewise in blind, spine lettered and blocked in gilt, edges gilt. A little marked, a touch of wear to extremities. Prize inscription to flyleaf: ‘Presented by Mr White to Miss Mary Nichol as a reward for diligence and improvement, Edinburgh, 27th July 1848’.

Notes

An attractive early reprint of a volume in the Edinburgh Cabinet Library series by artist, traveller and colonial administrator James Baillie Fraser (1783-1856), which reached a third edition by 1846.
