Notes

The report of a court martial brought against officers in his regiment for peculation by author William Cobbett (1763-1835), who served in the West Norfolk 54th foot in the late 1700s. He was much-criticised for not being present for the trial, having fled to France. This is one of two printings of the proceedings issued in 1809, both without Cobbett's knowledge or consent.
