The text of a speech given by Hugh MacDiarmid in tribute to his friend, the writer Sydney Goodsir Smith, on the presentation of the Sir Thomas Urquhart Award to the latter on 14th December 1962. It was printed in an edition of 135 copies, of which the first 35 were signed and specially bound. This copy from the regular issue belonged to the poet, publisher and long-time champion of MacDiarmid's work, Duncan Glen.
