ONE OF 100 COPIES, 4to, pp. xii, [44]. Later quarter green roan, marbled boards, black morocco label. Just a little damp-marked and crinkled to fore-edge, particularly to title-page. A touch of wear to extremities. Presentation inscription to title-page: ‘Allan Cunningham Esq. with the Editor’s compts.’

Notes

A reprint of Birnie's 1606 treatise, edited by advocate and antiquary William Barclay Turnbull (1811-1863). Turnbull was soon to found The Abbotsford Club, a text publication society dedicated to reprinting medieval and early modern texts, much like this one. This copy was presented by Turnbull to author and fellow antiquarian Allan Cunningham (1784-1842).
