NO. 31 OF 50 SPECIAL COPIES, of a total limitation of 750 copies, 8vo, pp. [vi], xi, [i], 84, [4] + frontispiece. Printed by hand on hand made Millbourne paper. Partially-unopened in original green cloth, front board blocked in gilt, spine lettered in gilt, top edge gilt, others untrimmed, turquoise paper dustjacket printed in black, card slipcase. Dustjacket somewhat spotted, particularly to spine panel, slipcase bumped and worn to corners. Numbered in ink to limitation-leaf and slipcase spine.

Notes

A hand-printed limited-edition reprint of Farnie's 1857 text, reckoned to be the first prose work on golf and the first golfing instructional book. This is one of the first 50 copies specially-bound in cloth with a golf club design blocked in gilt to the front board; the rest of the run was bound in quarter cloth.
