A little soiled and spotted, small tear to title-page at top of gutter. Rubbed, worn to extremities and spine, label partially defective, front endpaper sometime renewed. Inscription to flyleaf: ‘Ex libris Georgii Paterson’, modern booklabel to rear pastedown, initials abraded from title-page, a few pencil notes.

Ruddiman's reprint, praised by Dibdin as 'desirable... as well on the score of accuracy as of rarity' (I p. 546) of George Buchanan's metrical translations of two of Euripides' plays, alongside the ancient Greek originals. Buchanan's translations were first performed in the 1540s and saw print in the 1550s.
