Description

4to, pp. [cxl], 766, [82, index]. Contemporary vellum boards, edges sprinkled red. Printed on poor-quality paper, first two leaves creased, one leaf with blank margin torn. Boards soiled and marked with a large stain to front, old ink scribbles to boards. A couple of marginal words in an early hand.

Notes

The first Obrecht edition of Quintilian's Institutes of Oratory, edited by the Alsacian scholar and polymath Ulrich Obrecht (1646-1701). The text is substantially and reasonably well-emended but there are no annotations; Obrecht had intended a separate volume of these to follow but died before completing it.
