Description

FIRST EDITION, 12mo, pp. xxxix, [ix], 196. Contemporary sheep, spine divided by raised bands, board edges tooled in gilt, edges sprinkled red. A few spots. Somewhat stained and rubbed, patches of loss to leather from insect damage. Various ownership marks and pen trials to endpapers and title-page, including remains of a wax seal and several instances of Wilson Gale, later bookplate and blind-stamp of the Ulverston Athenaeum lending library.

Notes

A scarce schoolbook: ESTC locates four copies in the UK (BL, Cambridge x2, Oxford), plus half a dozen locations in North America. The endpapers include contemporary scribbles, not unusual for a schoolbook and former library book.
